Historical Root & Tradition

Macaçá / Catinga-de-Mulata in Brazilian Ancestral Wisdom

Macaçá is one of the African leaves with the greatest foundation in Candomblé, used in amaci and in obligations that require serenity. Its striking aroma identifies the leaf even before seeing the plant.

In the traditional garrafadas of Central Brazil, the raizeiro masters recognized in the knotted shape of the root the living metaphor of firmeza: the capacity to tie knots in adversity and remain standing even in arid lands.
