Brazilian popular Catholicism is a unique expression of the Catholic faith, shaped by centuries of cultural mixing between Europeans, Africans and indigenous people. Far beyond the official religion, it lives in devotions to the saints, in promises, in patron saint festivals and in the plaster statues on domestic altars.
In Brazil, popular Catholicism created rich traditions: the festas juninas with devotion to Saint Anthony, Saint John and Saint Peter; the Corpus Christi processions; the ex-votos of the miracle rooms in the Northeast; the romaria de Aparecida.
The saints are powerful intercessors, friends who walk alongside the faithful. Each saint has their domains, their festivals and their forms of devotion.

The life of the Brazilian Catholic is marked by a calendar of devotions that repeats every year and unites faith, family and culture. In May, the month of Mary fills churches with crownings and rosaries; in June, the festas juninas celebrate Saint Anthony, Saint John and Saint Peter with bonfires, quadrilhas and flags.
October gathers millions of pilgrims in Aparecida, on the day of the patron saint of Brazil, while November remembers the deceased faithful on All Souls' Day. Throughout the year, the patron saint festivals mobilize entire cities with processions, novenas and fairs, strengthening community bonds.
In each of these celebrations, the devotional items play a central role: the candles lit with intention, the statues carried in procession, the rosaries prayed with the family, and the protection medals. At Joia Mística Laroyê, you find everything to live your faith with beauty and devotion, in Extrema, Minas Gerais and throughout Brazil.
