The heart of Umbanda is charity. Summarized in the phrase attributed to the Caboclo das Sete Encruzilhadas "give food to those who are hungry, give drink to those who are thirsty" it guides all the ritual work: the spirits descend in the giras not for themselves, but to help those seeking comfort, healing and guidance, always free of charge.
The terreiro is the house where this faith is organized. Under the leadership of the pai or mãe de santo, the mediums develop their mediumship with study, discipline and humility. The gira begins with the smoke cleansing (defumação) that purifies the environment, the pontos (sung chants) that call the spirits and the chain formed by all those present.
Every detail has meaning: the candles, the herbs, the bead necklaces and the white clothes help to sustain the energy of the ritual work. To support this practice with respect and quality, Joia Mística Laroyê gathers everything the terreiro and the medium need, in Extrema, Minas Gerais and with shipping to all of Brazil.
