Why does the herb have a temperature?
In Candomblé and Umbanda, the temperature of the herb speaks of its action, not the heat of the plant. The hot herb cuts and performs a spiritual cleansing (descarrego): rue, guinea hen weed and pepper tree remove what weighs you down. The cold herb calms and aligns the head, like colônia and saião. The warm stays in the middle and balances.
This difference decides how the ritual bath is taken. Hot herb goes from the neck down, because the head, the ori, is the seat of the orixá. And after a hot bath comes a cold or warm bath, so you do not remain open.
The complete list, with the ori rule explained, is in hot and cold herbs. For the recipe for your moment, take the which bath to take test.
