How to recognize each Orixá's chant
In the xirê circle, the one who sings calls the Orixá by name, by greeting, and by epithets: Laroyê for Exu, Eparrei for Iansã, Okê Arô for Oxóssi. With time, the ear learns to recognize whose chant it is even before understanding the lyrics.
The chants are sung in Yoruba, and the spelling that circulates is phonetic, the way it is heard. Therefore, the same chant appears written in different ways from house to house. The game uses the lyrics from the pages of the site's chant collection, each with a video.
