Self-esteem, presence, and own brilliance, in the strength of the Pombagiras and the Romani spirits
Hot Pink Candle (Magenta / Pink)
7-day candle · stays lit for 7 days7 dias
The shock pink candle, also sold as magenta or pink, is the candle for those who are tired of dimming themselves to fit into the lives of others. It does not appear in old Candomblé books, and this needs to be said: it is a color that was born from popular use in Umbanda and in the houses of the left, where people began associating this vivid tone with feminine brilliance and self-love.
Pombagira has red and black as foundation colors, and that is how most terreiros consecrate the line. Shock pink enters as an offering candle, lighter, in houses that work with young falanges like Pombagira Menina and with the Romani people, who like color and celebration. Some houses also offer pink to Oxum (Oshun) when the prayer request is vanity, beauty, and self-care. As customs change from house to house, it is worth asking the leader.
Lit at home, it asks for spirit and does not fight. It does not bind anyone, does not bring a person back, and does not do the job of a left-hand ritual performed in the terreiro. What it sustains is the decision to look at oneself with affection and to enter places with head held high.
What is it for
What is the Shock Pink Candle (Magenta / Pink) for
Hot pink joins the warmth of red with the sweetness of pink. In popular Umbanda, it is requested from young Pombagiras, the Romani spirits and, in some houses, from Oxum, always for the same purpose: self-love, the courage to show oneself, and the joy of living.
-
Learning to like myself again
After a breakup, a criticism that hurt, or a phase where you forgot yourself. The flame accompanies the prayer of someone who wants to recognize themselves in the mirror again.
-
Presence and charm in daily life
Before an interview, a presentation, or a date. The prayer request is for poise and sympathy, not to control what the other person will feel.
-
Leaving emotional dependency
For those who live waiting for someone else's approval. Light it asking for the strength to set limits and not to accept less than you deserve. The choice remains yours.
-
To please Pombagira and the Romani spirits
As a light gift for the line that already walks with you, along with an open rose or a perfume. Give thanks, without bargaining and without asking for a favor.
-
Joy and the desire to take care of yourself
On dull days, when you lack the energy even to get ready. The hot pink candle asks for lightness and a taste for life, and it pairs well with a ritual bath of flowers beforehand.

-
Romani people
Charm, freedom and the joy of living
The Romani people (cigano) work with color, music and enchantment, and accept candles of various tones. Hot pink enters prayer requests for self-love and opening for life, alongside scarves, ribbons and flowers.
-
Oxum
Lady of the fresh waters and beauty
The colors of Oxum are gold-yellow and golden. Some Umbanda houses offer pink to her when the prayer request is for vanity and self-care, because beauty and self-love are the domain of Iabá.

Prayer to light
Hot pink candle prayer to Pombagira for self-love
“Lady Pombagira, guardian who does not bow her head, receive this pink flame that I light for myself. Take from my shoulders the shame they gave me and the fear of occupying my place. Teach my eyes to see me with the same tenderness that I give to others. May I know how to say no when it is necessary and yes when it is true. Romani people, bring back the music to my days. Mother Oxum, wash my image in your river and return to me the will to care for myself. May this light stay lit in me after the candle ends. Laroyê, Pombagira!”Light the candle and pray
Step by step
How to consecrate the Hot Pink Candle (Magenta / Pink)
- 1
Take a flower ritual bath first
Rose petals and a cinnamon stick in warm water, from the neck down. It is the way to arrive before the candle already treating yourself with affection, and not just making a request.
- 2
Arrange a corner just for you
A reserved place in the bedroom, away from where the house spends all its time. The hot pink candle speaks of what is personal, so it asks for discretion and a little silence.
- 3
Perfume the candle and the rose
Pass a drop of your perfume on your hands and hold the candle from the base to the wick, saying what you want to reclaim in yourself. Leave the rose open next to the saucer.
- 4
Light it and say who it is for
Light it with a match and say in a low voice if the candle is for the Pombagira, for the Ciganas, or for Oxum. Make the prayer and speak of your request with sincerity.
- 5
Wait for the last flame
Stay nearby until the wick ends, without blowing; if you need to leave, cover it with a saucer. Wrap the remaining wax in paper and throw it away. The rose dries in the corner and then returns to the earth.
Precautions before lighting
- A lit candle stays away from curtains, sheets, and a vanity with flammable products. Use ceramic saucers and never leave a flame near a child or animal.
- This candle is for you. Do not use it to tie, bind, or change the will of another person; Pombagira is not a line of dominance over anyone.
- Pombagira's assentamento (consecrated altar) and rituals are done in the terreiro by those with the proper foundation. For this, seek the leader of your house.
- If the lack of self-love comes with deep and lasting sadness, the candle accompanies, but it does not replace the support of a psychologist or doctor.
Ceromancy
What the flame of the Shock Pink Candle (Magenta / Pink) shows
Traditional terreiro reading. Before interpreting, check if there is no wind, crooked wick, or poor quality candle.
- Good sign
Live and well-lit flame
Many houses read this as a request accepted with joy. It is what is expected from a candle of spirit burning in a place without a draft.
- Good sign
Flame that dances and crackles
For the left line, the agitated flame with crackling is usually read as a lively presence, a sign that the offering has arrived.
- Attention
Low and weak flame
It may show the discouragement of the person who lit it. Rest, take the flower ritual bath again and repeat the candle another night, with more calm.
- Attention
A lot of wax tears running down
Some houses read this as stored resentment that still weighs. If this repeats, talk to a trusted terreiro about what is blocking.
- Observe
Wick that drowns in soft wax
Colored stick candles sometimes melt quickly and swallow the wick. This is from the wax, not a message. Drain the excess carefully and light it again.

Questions about the Shock Pink Candle (Magenta / Pink)
Which spirit is the hot pink candle for?
In popular Umbanda, it is offered to young Pombagiras, such as Menina, and to the Romani people. Some houses give pink to Oxum. It is not an old foundation color: the established colors of Pombagira are red and black, and the hot pink enters as a favor.
What is the best day to light the hot pink candle?
Friday night, which is when many houses hold a Pombagira gira. If the request is for Oxum, Saturday is her day. If in doubt, follow what your terreiro usually does.
What is the difference between the pink candle and the hot pink candle?
Light pink is tenderness: romantic love, children, and the sweetness of Oxum. Hot pink has more fire, which is why it is requested for self-esteem, presence, and the courage to show oneself, and it speaks better with the left line and with the Ciganas.
Can I light a hot pink candle at home?
You can use it for your own self-love prayer request or as an offering to a line that already walks with you. Choose a reserved and safe corner. Pombagira firmeza with assentamento, however, is done in the terreiro.
Can I blow out the hot pink candle and light it again?
You can, just do not use your breath. Cover the flame with a saucer and light it again as soon as you return, preferably on the same night. Since it is a taper candle, it usually burns in a few hours, so choose a moment when you will be at home to monitor it.
What to do with the leftover wax and the rose?
The wax goes into the common trash, wrapped in paper. The rose can dry in its own corner and then go into the soil of a pot or a garden. Do not reuse the wax in another candle.
Is the pink choque candle used to bring someone back?
No. It works on your self-love, not on another person's will. Someone who values themselves chooses better who stays nearby, and that is what the candle helps to sustain.
