Iroko is the orixá (orisha) who lives in the tree. He is not represented in the trunk: he lives in it. He is one of the oldest Orixás worshipped in Ketu Candomblé, linked to time, to ancestry and to longevity. In Brazil, his dwelling is the white gameleira tree with the white cloth tied to the trunk.

Direct children of Iroko are rare: he usually appears as an adjunct, not as a head orixá. The discreet, patient, and stubborn profile that circulates in terreiros is common knowledge, not a closed secret.
