Have mercy on me, O God, for your goodness; for your great mercy, blot out my sins.
Wash me from all iniquity and cleanse me from all faults.
For I acknowledge my sins, and my guilt I have always before me.
I have sinned against you, against you alone, and done evil before your eyes: so your sentence is just and your judgment is upright!
For I was born in guilt, and my mother conceived me in sin.
Establish truth in the depths of the heart and make me know wisdom in the innermost of the soul.
Sprinkle me with hyssop and I shall be clean; wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me hear a word of joy and of gladness, and let my bones, which you have crushed, tremble.
Turn away your face from my faults and cleanse me from all my sins.
Create in me, O God, a pure heart, and make a firm spirit grow within me.
Do not cast me out of your presence and do not take from me your spirit of holiness.
Give me again the joy of your salvation and sustain me with a generous spirit.
I will teach your paths to the sinners, and the strayed shall return to you.
O God, my savior, deliver me from shed blood, and my tongue shall proclaim your justice.
Open, Lord, my lips, and my mouth shall announce your praise.
For it is not from sacrifices that you are pleased and, if I offer you a burnt offering, you will not accept it.
A sacrifice pleasing to the Lord is a repentant spirit: you will not despise, O God, a humble and contrite spirit.
By your goodness, treat Zion with benevolence, rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will be pleased with the due sacrifices, offerings and burnt offerings. Then victims will be offered upon your altar.
