Lord Jesus Christ, I, a sinner, not presuming on my own merits, but trusting in your goodness and mercy, I fear however and hesitate to approach the table of your sweet communion. For my body and my heart are stained by many faults, and I did not guard my spirit and my tongue with care.
Therefore, O divine goodness and fearsome majesty, in my misery I turn to you, source of mercy; I run to you to be healed, I take refuge in your protection and long to have as Savior the one whom I cannot bear as judge.
Lord, I show you my wounds and reveal my shame to you. I know that my sins are many and great and I fear because of them, but I hope in your infinite mercy.
Look upon me, then, with your merciful eyes, Lord Jesus Christ, eternal King, God and man, crucified for the sake of man. Hear me, for I hope in you; have mercy on me, full of miseries and sins, you who will never cease to be for us the source of compassion.
Hail, saving victim, offered on the scaffold of the cross by me and by all men. Hail, noble and precious blood, which flows from the wounds of my Lord Jesus Christ crucified and washes the sins of the entire world.
Remember, Lord, your creature redeemed by your blood. I repent for having sinned, I desire to repair what I did. Deliver me, O most clement Father, from all my iniquities and sins, so that, entirely purified, I may deserve to participate in the holy mysteries.
And grant that your Body and your Blood, which I, although unworthy, prepare myself to receive, may be forgiveness for my sins and complete purification of my failings. May they drive away from me evil thoughts and awaken good feelings, make effective the works that please you, and protect my body and my soul against the traps of my enemies. Amen.
