Bless us, O Lord

It is the short prayer to bless the food before lunch or dinner and to give thanks afterward. It is beautiful when prayed as a family, with everyone at the table.

Before eating

V. Bless us, O Lord, and these foods which we receive from Thy hands. Through Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

Before lunch: V. May the King of eternal glory make us participants of the celestial table. R. Amen.

Before dinner: V. May the King of eternal glory lead us to the supper of eternal life. R. Amen.

After eating

V. We give Thee thanks, Almighty God, for all Thy benefits. Thou who livest and reignest for ages of ages.

R. Amen.

V. May the Lord give us His peace,
