It is the prayer for the days when hope fades. It remembers that God is faithful to his promises and ends with a certainty: I shall never be confounded.

My God, because you are omnipotent, infinitely merciful and most faithful to your promises, I hope from your goodness that, in consideration of the merits of Jesus Christ, our Savior, you will give me eternal life and the graces necessary to reach it, as you promised to those who practiced good works, which I propose to perform with the help of your divine grace.

Lord, my hope, in which I want to live and die: I shall never be confounded. Amen.
