It is the request for forgiveness from God out of love, with the purpose of not offending Him again. It is prayed during confession and at the end of the day, after the examination of conscience.

My God, because You are infinitely good and I love You with all my heart, it pains me to have offended You and, with the help of Your divine grace, I firmly propose to amend myself and never offend You again.

I ask and hope for forgiveness for my sins through Your infinite mercy. Amen.
