Holy Rosary (Terço) and Rosary

How to start

Make the Sign of the Cross and pray the Apostles' Creed, one Our Father, three Hail Marys and one Glory Be.

Each mystery

Announce the mystery, pray one Our Father, ten Hail Marys and one Glory Be. After the Glory Be, the jaculatories:

V. O Mary conceived without sin,

R. pray for us, who turn to you.

V. O my Jesus, forgive us and deliver us from the fire of hell;

R. lead all the souls to heaven and help especially those who need it most.

Joyful mysteries (Monday and Saturday)

1. The annunciation of the angel to the Virgin Mary.
2. The Visitation of Our Lady to her cousin Saint Elizabeth.
3. The birth of the Son of God in Bethlehem.
4. The presentation of Jesus in the Temple.
5. The Child Jesus lost and found in the Temple.

Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday and Friday)

1. The agony of Jesus in the Garden of Olives.
2. The flagellation of Jesus, bound to the column.
3. The crowning of thorns.
4. Jesus carries the cross on the path to Calvary.
5. Jesus is crucified and dies on the cross.

Glorious Mysteries (Wednesday and Sunday)

1. The resurrection of Our Lord.
2. The ascension of Jesus to heaven.
3. The coming of the Holy Spirit.
4. The assumption of Our Lady into heaven.
5. The coronation of Mary as Queen of heaven and earth.

Luminous mysteries (Thursday)

1. The baptism of Jesus in the Jordan.
2. The revelation of Jesus at the wedding at Cana.
3. The announcement of the Kingdom of God, with the invitation to conversion.
4. The transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor.
5. The institution of the Eucharist.

How to finish

At the end of the five mysteries, pray three Hail Marys, offering each one: Hail Mary, Daughter of God Father; Hail Mary, Mother of God Son; Hail Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Then, the Hail, Holy Queen.

Whoever has time also prays the Litany of Our Lady and the To your protection.

Final prayer of the rosary:

V. Pray for us, holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray. O God, who through the life, death, and resurrection of your Only Begotten Son granted us the prize of eternal salvation, grant us, we ask you, that, by venerating the mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and attain what they promise. Through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

By custom, the intentions are also prayed: for the needs of the Church, one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be; for the intentions of the bishop of the diocese, one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be; and for the souls in purgatory, one Our Father and one Hail Mary, ending with: Grant them, O Lord, eternal rest.
